Consultancy spend

Monthly list of requests for exceptions to the freeze on consultancy spend.

In May 2010 the Chancellor of the Exchequer introduced a set of spending controls, including a freeze on advisory consultancy spend.

Any requests for exceptions to this freeze would require sign off by a departmental minister. As ORR is a non-ministerial department, such requests above £20,000 are currently approved by the chief executive, in his capacity as accounting officer and requests below £20,000 have been considered by the director of Corporate operations*.

Details of exceptions to the consultancy spend freeze are reported to our board every month. Details may be found below.

* Prior to May 2011, a special approvals committee carried out this task.
