South Devon Railway Trust has today been fined £40,000 by Newton Abbot Magistrates' Court after they admitted putting passengers at risk by failing to adequately bar entry to a toilet cubicle which was missing its floor.

Network Rail was today found guilty of one offence under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

BAM Nuttall and McNealy Brown were fined £900,000 and £65,000 respectively after they admitted failing to put proper procedures and safeguards in place to prevent painter Paul Welstead falling through a ceiling into a passenger waiting room.

Network Rail Infrastructure Limited has today been fined £733,000 at Bristol Crown Court for failing to undertake adequate maintenance to prevent the derailment of a freight train near Gloucester in October 2013.

London Underground Ltd has been fined £500,000 for breaches of health and safety law after a maintenance worker was injured in a disused station at South Kentish Town in 2014.

Network Rail has been fined £4million for breaches of health and safety law which led to a fatality at Gipsy Lane pedestrian level crossing near Needham Market, Suffolk, in 2011.

The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has today lifted the Prohibition Notice on the West Coast Railway Company (WCRC) which we served on 17 February 2016.

Engineering company, Babcock Rail Limited, has today been fined £400,000 for breaching of health and safety laws which led to a rail worker suffering injuries while renewing rail track in Flintshire, north-east Wales, two years ago. This follows a prosecution brought by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).
