With the scheme designed for students in their final year of study or recent graduates, it has provided those taking part with the opportunity to gain significant, valuable work experience.

They joined directorates across the organisation to make meaningful contributions while developing their professional skills and industry understanding.

Each of our interns have performed admirably, working with creativity and enthusiasm, and making the programme just as beneficial to ORR as it has been for them.

We caught up with three of them to find out about their experiences of being an intern at ORR.

I had little idea of what an internship with ORR would actually entail. I can now say, wholeheartedly, that the past few weeks have been thoroughly enjoyable; valuable and rewarding. Having the opportunity to attend interview assessment centres was highly valuable and allowed me to experience the other side of the recruitment process. As I start my final week, I can honestly say I am sad to be leaving! It goes without saying that I would recommend an internship with ORR to anyone.

I have had an incredible time in ORR. Going into the next two years at university, I will now be armed with some amazing experiences of the world of work and a little more direction for the future. Thank you to everyone for being so open and willing to help me over the last 6 weeks, making a very new and daunting experience informative and enjoyable.

At ORR you are made to feel welcome and at home from day one. The experience has been very interesting, and I have learned a lot about the UK railway and relevant safety considerations. This work has been both rewarding and enjoyable to carry out. In the future I would like to build on my experience at ORR by working in the public sector, maybe a government department or the civil service.
