This content and related publications refer to our annual assessment of National Highways.
National Highways is the government-owned company responsible for the strategic road network – the motorways and major A-roads in England.
Every year we publish an annual assessment setting out how National Highways has performed over the previous year. We published our most recent assessment on 18 July 2025.
The assessment details the company’s performance against its targets, commitments and capital programme.
We have also published associated consultancy reports, available under related publications below.
Dashboards on enhancements delivery and operations, maintenance and renewals are also available. The dashboards are hosted in Power BI.
